The Supplication
Make the Qurʾān the springtime of my heart
It is narrated from ʿAbdullāh ibn Masʿūd that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: whoever is struck by distress or grief and supplicates Allah with these words, Allah will remove his grief and distress and give him joy in its place. Someone asked: “Messenger of Allah, should we learn this supplication?” He said: “Why not — whoever hears it should learn it.”

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ عَبْدُكَ، وَابْنُ عَبْدِكَ، وَابْنُ اَمَتِكَ
اے اللہ! بیشک میں آپ کا بندہ ہوں، اور آپ کے بندے کا بیٹا ہوں، اور آپ کی بندی کا بیٹا ہوں
O Allah, I am Your servant, the son of Your servant, the son of Your maidservant.
نَاصِيَتِىْ بِيَدِكَ
میری پیشانی آپ کے ہاتھ میں ہے
My forelock is in Your hand.
مَاضٍ فِىَّ حُكْمُكَ، عَدْلٌ فِىَّ قَضَاؤُكَ
میری ذات پر آپ ہی کا حکم چلتا ہے، میری ذات کے متعلق آپ کا فیصلہ عدل و انصاف والا ہے
Your command over me is carried out; Your decree concerning me is just.
اَسْئَلُكَ بِكُلِّ اسْمٍ هُوَ لَكَ سَمَّيْتَ بِهٖ نَفْسَكَ
میں آپ کو آپ کے ہر اُس نام کا واسطہ دے کر سوال کرتا ہوں جو آپ نے اپنے لیے خود تجویز کیا
I ask You by every name that is Yours, by which You have named Yourself,
اَوْ اَنْزَلْتَهٗ فِىْ كِتَابِكَ
یا اپنی کتاب میں نازل فرمایا
or which You have sent down in Your Book,
اَوْ عَلَّمْتَهٗ اَحَدًا مِّنْ خَلْقِكَ
یا اپنی مخلوق میں سے کسی کو سکھایا
or which You have taught to any of Your creation,
اَوِ اسْتَاْثَرْتَ بِهٖ فِىْ عِلْمِ الْغَيْبِ عِنْدَكَ
یا اپنے پاس علمِ غیب میں محفوظ رکھا
or which You have kept to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen —
اَنْ تَجْعَلَ الْقُرْاٰنَ رَبِيْعَ قَلْبِىْ، وَنُوْرَ صَدْرِىْ
یہ کہ قرآن کو میرے دل کی بہار بنا دے، اور میرے سینے کا نور بنا دے
that You make the Qurʾān the springtime of my heart and the light of my breast,
وَجَلَاۤءَ حُزْنِىْ، وَذَهَابَ هَمِّىْ
اور غم میں روشنی اور پریشانی دُور کرنے کا ذریعہ بنا دے
the polishing away of my sorrow and the departure of my anxiety.
